HIGHWAY FATAITIES
Fatalities on the highways of Ionia county for last year were increased by 
one Monday when a woman died who was injured early Christmas morning.

State Police were notified Mrs. Marion Husted, 62, died at 5 o'clock Monday 
morning of injuries received in an automobile accident in front of her home. 
Death was due to pneumonia following chest injuries received about 1 o'clock 
the morning of December 25.

She was riding in a car driven by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Erma Husted. Her 
son Richard was also a passenger.

The younger Mrs. Husted was traveling west on M21 when she attempted to turn 
left into the driveway of the elder Mrs. Husted's home. The car collided with 
one driven by Howard Dick which was traveling east on M21.

The Husted car was pushed 42 feet and 15 feet from the edge of the pavement.

Mrs. Husted, the former Marion Elizabeth Warren, was born November 28, 1898 
in New York State and was married to Floyd Husted in Lansing in 1920. Mr. 
Husted died in 1958.

Blind for the last 15 years Mrs. Husted kept house, typed and accomplished 
many things for one with no vision. She had been a member of the Minnie 
Howard club since its organization.

Mrs. Husted is survived by one son, Richard Husted of Orleans, and three 
grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Myers 
funeral home in Ionia with Rev. Raymond Bittner of the Muir Presbyterian 
church officiating.

Interment will be in Lyons cemetery.
