Gladys Coe Hutchinson, 90, of Grand Rapids and Clearwater, Fla., passed away
Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002.

She received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University followed by
a master’s degree in decorative design from the University of Michigan’s School
of Architecture.  Mrs. Hutchinson then became the first art instructor at Henry
Ford’s Greenfield Village and Edison Institute.  Her civic responsibilities were
many.  Organizations in the Dearborn, Michigan area were the recipients of her
direction and talents.

Mrs. Hutchinson was a charter member of the Greenfield Congregational Church and
a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clearwater, Fla.

Mrs. Hutchinson was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, J. Dall; and
brothers, George Coe Jr., and Orson Coe.  Locally is survived by nieces, Marilyn
Coe Hunting (David), Connie Coe Miller (Herm) and Brenda Coe Carlon (Harv); and
nephew, Orson Coe II (Sharon).  Out-of-town relatives include, Gloria and Ed
Ryba, Ann and Rick Ryba, Bud Schonhofen, Buffy and Jay Novak, Margaret and
Michael Schonhofen and Lawrence Schonhofen.  Gladys is also survived by 13 great
nieces and nephews and 13 great, great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday at Mayflower
Congregational Church, 2345 Robinson Rd. SE, Grand Rapids.  Funeral Services
will be at 1 p.m. at the church with Rev. Eric Britcher, officiating.  Interment
Sunset Memorial Gardens, Ionia.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice
of Michigan, 1260 Ekhart NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.  Arrangements by
