Hutchins who has been ill foquite a while back and very low for the past two weeks, answered her Master’s call and passed from this world to the great beyond to take up her abode in the mansions which had been prepared for her there. The deceased had been in poor health for about a year back due probably to extended age this developed into paralysis which caused her death. The funeral was held Christmas morning in the M. E. church, there being quite a large number in attendance, including the W.C.T.U. which came in a body to show their love and respect for one who had been so prominent a worker in their midst. The services were taken charge of by the Rev. T. R. Laity, pastor, and A. B. Johnson of Hesperia, an old friend of the family. The impressiveness of the service was greatly added to by the citing of a few reminiscences by Revs. Johnson, which went to more fully show the remarkable sweetness of the deceased’s character. This was followed by the sermon from the text which she had chosen, by Rev. Laity. The singing was by the M. E. choir. The interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. Those from out of town who were here in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Hackett of Lowell, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stiles of Grand Rapids, Clair Townsend of Detroit and Rev. A. B. Johnson of Hesperia. Hannah P. Pearson, second in a family of nine children, was born in Woodstock Township, Lenawee County, September 12, 1840,and departed this life December 22, 1910, being preceded six years ago by her oldest brother Francis. She was married to Godfrey H. Hutchins in Hillsdale county December 17, 1865. To this union was born one child, Loren, who died when five months old. Soon after his death they took to live with them a little girl whom they adopted, Ida J. Braley. Eighteen years ago they received onto their home another girl,- -Stella Pallett, who lived with them up to the time of her marriage. In early life Mrs. Hutchins gave her heart to Jesus and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Woodstock. In 1865 when she was married and moved to their new home where Lake Odessa now stands she transferred her church membership to the Methodist church in Woodland and, when the church was organized here, became one of its charter members by transfer from Woodland. She was also a charter member of the W.C.T.U. and of the W.F.M.S. and in all of these relations she was a faithful worker until the Master said “It is enough, Come Home.” Mrs. Hutchins life was a true type of Christian character exemplified in a community of neighbors and friends who will ever remember her for her simplicity of faith and strong Christian character. For some time she had known that her life here was near its close and she made all arrangements for her departure trusting that God would care for those she left behind. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Ida Townsend, Detroit, and Mrs. Stella Styles, Grand Rapids, three grandchildren, four brothers, Alfred and Fletcher of Hastings, Neb., Charles of Tecumseh. Also three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hackett of Lowell, Mrs. Harriet Iverson of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mrs. Emma Keeler of Boyne City, Mich., with a large number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends who will long revere her memory—as her life was fragrant with good deeds. Card of Thanks: For the timely help and many kindnesses given us during the sickness and death of our loved one we would like to express our sincere thanks to the many friends who so remembered us.
