Born April 2, 1948 in Grand Rapids,MI son of Leo Thomas & Helen Marie(Freeman) Huver. Jim was drafted into the Army in February 1968, & served his country honorably in Vietnam. He married Sue Larson on June 22, 1968 at St.Anthony's Catholic Church, Saranac, MI. Jim farmed most of his life, partnering with his father-in-law, Francis, on their family dairy farm. He was active in the Michigan Farm Bureau Young Farmer Program. He was a charter volunteer with the Berlin Orange Fire Department. A member * previous Post Commander of the Portland VFW Post 4090 before helping to establish the Ionia VFW David A. Huhn Post 12082. Jim dedicated himself to honoring veterans, helping them to understand & secure benefits. He handcrafted hundreds of beautiful flag boxes for those who had served & sacrificed. His love for wood working was more than a hobby-it was a way to give back & expressed his care for others. Surviving are his wife, Sue Huver of Ionia, sons, Andy Huver of Ionia & Tony (Jen) Huver of Hudsonville. Grandchildren, Henry James & Madelyn. Sister,Frances(John) of West Lakes & brothers, Kenneth (Patricia) Huver of Lake Odessa, Jerry(Phyllis)Huver of Lowell, & sister-in-law Judy (Gary) Volker of White Lake.Several nieces, nephews & cousins. Preceded in death by his parents & his mother-in-law & father-in-law, Doris & Francis Larson. Jim's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Alysis (Isaac) Blough, the Lake Odessa & Ionia VFW,Just Like Home, Luminate Home Care, & Cornerstone Caring.
