ED.HYATT DIES WED'SDAY A.M.

Edward J.Hyatt,68, passed away suddenly at his home here early Wednesday 
morning. He had been in very poor health the past few years, but his death came 
unexpectedly.

He was the present treasurer of both the township of Odessa and the village of 
Lake Odessa, having served in the former office for six years, and the latter 
two years. He also was a member of the local I.O.O.F lodge.

Surviving are the widow, one son Ralph in Grand Rapids, one daughter, Mrs.Rachel 
Ward at Alma, two grandsons, Ronald Hyatt and James Ward, and one granddaughter, 
Mary Jo Hyatt.

Funeral services will be held at the Wortley & Baine chapel Friday afternoon at 
2 with the Rev. Charles E.Thies officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside.

Mr. Hyatt was born September 17, 1872 in Clarendon township, Calhoun county, and 
at the age of 20 went with his parents to live on a farm near Lakeview. On 
February 5, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Fountaine of Alto 
township, Montcalm county, at Entrican.

Mr and Mrs Hyatt lived on the farm near Lakeview until 29 years ago when, 
accompanied by his aged parents Mr and Mrs.Lewis Hyatt, they moved to lake 
Odessa to take over the management of the Burke hotel and maintain a livery 
business. The parents passed away several years ago, and the son later retired 
from active business on account of the failing  health of both he and Mrs.Hyatt.
