Hymer, 68, of 801 Hackett street died at his home suddenly Monday at midnight after a severe heart attack. Mr. Hymer was born in Louisville, Ky., August 22, 1887, the son of James and Anna Hymer. He came to Michigan in 1919 at the close of World War I and had lived in Ionia for the past 20 years. He was a registered engineer in the state in the field of electrical and combustion engines. He married Elaida Loose of Monroe May 19, 1919. Mr. Hymer was a second lieutenant in the 244th Air Squadron in World War I and spent 18 months overseas. He was injured in a plane crash during the war and hospitalized in France for several months. He was employed with the United Motors division of General Motors in Detroit for several years and after 1941 worked with Nash Kelvinator in Lansing five years and the State Highway department for two years. He retired in 1951. He was a member of the American Legion, Disabled Veterans, F. and A. M. No. 36 and B.P.O.E. No. 548. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Herbert Jr., of San Bruno, Calif., three sisters, Mrs. Joe Thormahlen and Mrs. L. H. Botts of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. D. R. Patterson of Nashville, Tenn. Private funeral services will be held at the home Thursday afternoon. The Rev. W. W. Pixley will officiate and entombment will be at the Highland Park Mausoleum.
