KAREN IDA 1942-2017
Karin K. (DeHommel) Ida age 74 of Grand Rapids, MI formally of Saranac, MI 
passed away April 27, 2017. She was born Sept 1, 1942 in Hamelin, Germany, the 
daughter of John and Elizabeth (Flohr) DeHommel. Katin married Robert Ida on 
Aug. 25, 1962 in Grand Rapids He preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2000. Karin 
was the past owner of the Saranac laundromat. She was an accomplished artist and 
made beautiful paintings and jewelry making.

Karin is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Dan) Shultz of Rockford, Jane 
(Bill) Phillips of Lake Odessa, Lisa (Johan) Ipenburg of Rockford, Jennifer 
(Adam) Yuhas of Lowell; grandchildren, Lindsay (Gordy) Gentz, Jacob Davis, Sarah 
Gates, Trevor Phillips (Deanna), Hannah Phillips, Mia Ipenburg, Katie Yuhas, 
Keigan Yuhas; great-grandchilden, Brody, Allie, Braelyn, Bailie; sister, Marion 
(Joe) Zuiderveen of Ada; brothers, John (Houng) DeHommel of Grand Rapids, Bill 
(Paulett) DeHommel of Kentwood, Herb Lemke of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Elizabeth, husband Robert, 
brother Hank and sister Ingrid Aben.

Funeral services for Karin will be held Tuesday, may 2, 11 a.m. at Saranac 
Community Church with Pastor Becky Poor officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. 
Visitation will be Monday form 4-7 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac and 1 
hour prior to service at the church. Those wising may make memorial 
contributions to American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at
