Ingalls. Mr. Ingalls was one of the pioneer residents of that village, and was an authority on Indian history of this section of the country. Mr. Ingalls at the time of his death was in his ninetieth year and had been a resident of Portland for 87 years. The father of Mr. Ingall was the first white man to cut a tree in Sebewa Township. At a later date he purchased from the Indians a tract of land known as Shim-ni-con. At one time an Indian village of several hundred log cabins was located on this tract of land. When a boy Mr. Ingalls was reared with the Indians and was the last in this section of the country who could speak their language. A few weeks ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis which left him helpless and his widow, 10 years his junior, assisted in his care.
