Ionia Sentinel, 2001

Lewis W. Ingraham, 79, of Portland; passed away on Wed., July 11, 2001.

He was born on Aug. 8, 1921, in Lyons, the son of Floyd A. and Flossie 
(Carpenter) Ingraham.  Mr. Ingraham was a veteran of World War II serving in 
the United States Army Infantry in North Africa and a member of the Portland 
V.F.W. Post #4090.

He worked for 33 and one-half years for General Motors before retiring in 
1986.  He was a farmer at heart and a master gardener.

Mr. Ingraham was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Allen, and sister, 
Arzella.

Surviving are his children, Jeanette (Jack) Wilson, Kevin (Kelly) Ingram and 
Timothy (Beth) Ingraham, all of Portland and Twana (Thomas) Dies of Lyons; 
grandchildren, Jenny (Michael) Harp, Jason (Lynn) Dies, Janett Dies, Lindsey 
and Ashley Ingram, and Sarah and Jacob Ingraham; step-grandchildren, Thomas 
Stalter and Tyler Husted; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Mezella (Floyd) 
Underwood, of Ionia.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Steve Burkhart, pastor of the 
Eagle Wesley Chapel at 11 a.m., Friday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 
1301 E. Grand River Ave., Portland with interment following at Portland 
Cemetery.  Military Graveside honors will be provided by the Portland V.F.W. 
Post #4090.  The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. 
to 9 p.m., Thursday at the funeral Home.  For those desiring, memorial 
contributions may be made to the Ionia Area Hospice, 117 N. Depot St., Ionia 
48846, in memory of Lewis W. Ingraham.
