Well Known Belding Business Man Takes Life By Hanging. Fred Ireland of Belding, manager of the T. Frank Ireland hardware store, there, and nephew of Charles A. Ireland of this city, committed suicide this morning by hanging. The body was found in the barn at about 11:00 o’clock. He had started from the house at 7:00 to go to the store, but had never left the yard. His act is attributed to despondency resulting from nervous breakdown. His health had been failing for some years, and the strain of caring for his business has apparently been too much for him. He was about 35 years old, and leaves a widow and three children. He is also survived by his mother, a sister, Miss Imogene Ireland, who is teaching music, and a brother, Walter Ireland, who was with him in the store. The brothers have had the management of the store since the death of their father, about ten years ago. The news of the tragedy fell like a pall on Belding, where Fred Ireland stood high in general respect as a business man, and where he was a social favorite. [Transcriber Note: There is a notation on the obituary card that he was buried in River Ridge Cemetery.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/i/ireland29346nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
