Miss Laura Irish, the oldest member of the Presbyterian church, passed away at the family home, 222 East Main street, at 4 o’clock this morning after an illness lasting about four weeks. Miss Irish would have been 88 years of age next June. Miss Irish was born in Burlington, Vt., and came to Michigan when very young and she has lived in Ionia county practically all her life, being numbered among the early settlers of the county. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Irish, and had continued to live at the old home since the death of her parents. She is survived by a brother, Ed L. Irish, of Bay View, and a brother-in-law, C. C. Eyster. She was an aunt of Mrs. Bessie Johnson, Miss Kate Mills, Edward Mills, and Henry D. Irish. Miss Irish was a great-aunt of Miss Ruth Johnson. Miss Irish was one of the most patient sufferers. She was loved by young people and always took a great interest in their activities. The funeral will be held from the residence Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. W. K. Spencer will officiate and will be assisted by Rev. Joseph H. Green. Burial will take place in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery.
