John J. Pershing, Commander in Chief of the American forces for bravery and honorable service given to his country by their son, Private Herbert W. Irwin, Co. D. 126th Inf. He was killed in action in one of the battles, Oct. 15th, 1918 by a bullet from a German sniper. This is a recognition which Mr. and Mrs. Irwin may certainly be proud of.
