Jackson, 66, of Lake Odessa died Wednesday at the Ionia Manor following a short illness. He had been hospitalized at the Grand Rapids Osteopathic hospital since February 1 and transferred to Ionia Manor February 18. Born at Barryton may 28, 1908, he was the son of Fred and Edith Oakley Jackson and moved to Lake Odessa in 1924 living on the Jackson homestead west of Lake Odessa since. He had attended the Barryton public schools. May 4, 1929, he was married in Toledo, Ohio, to Alice Preston. He had been employed by the Poff-Lapo Chevrolet garage of Lake Odessa as its service manger and mechanic for 37 years, retiring in 1973. He had served with the volunteer Lake Odessa fire department 35 years and was a charter member of the Lake Odessa Sportsmen’s club. Besides the wife are two daughters, Mrs. Marjory McDowell of Garden City and Mrs. Virginia Dickinson of Lake Odessa; three sons, Wayne of Wyoming, Harold of Hastings and Fredric of Lake Odessa; 15 grandchildren; one great- grandchild; and brother, Jud of Jackson. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel at Lake Odessa. Rev. George Speas will officiate and interment will be at the Clarksville cemetery.
