Above his mortal remains lying surrounded by flowers in the sanctuary of the church, of which he had been a faithful member for 52 years and an elder for 35 years, the thoughtful, touching tribute to his memory of a friend and former pastor, was paid by Dr. W. K. Spencer, whose associations with this church officer had been so close and productive of respect and love accorded by good men to one another. Dr. Spencer read Scripture and offered prayer, which conveyed in unostentatious fashion the final tribute to an honorable, charitable, Christian life. By the casket stood a flag in honor of Mr. Jackson's membership in William H. Borden Post, G. A. R., and his civil war service and six members of the post attended the services. There were present a number from away among them were several business associates of Roscoe R. Jackson from Detroit. Andrew Jackson was at the time of his death 78 years of age and for a number of years had lived away from Ionia spending much of his time in California and in Maine.
