Feb. 5, 1991 IONIA- Bernice B. Jackson, 86, died Sunday. She was born on November 26, 1904, in Big Rapids, the daughter of B.J. and Grace Boynton. She was graduated from Ionia High School in 1922 and continued her education at Western Michigan University where she obtained her teaching certificate. She taught for several years at Jefferson School in Ionia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Women's Literary Club. Surviving are' her husband, Wallace H. Two daughters: Marilyn Waldron of West Bloomfield and Leigh Mintz of Castro Valley, Calif. four grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her sister Beatrice Croskery in 1990. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Ionia with Rev. Keith Bovee officiating. The organist will be Marilyn Brill. The family will be at the funeral home 2-4 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Marc Schafer, Leigh Mintz, Jack Reimer, E.J. Tupper, Ed Roetman, and Jack Waldron. Honorary Pallbearers are Allen Haight and Dr. Chandler Haight.
