Delbert Jackson, 53, Killed Instantly When Struck by Auto as He was Fixing Tire. Owosso, October 5. – Delbert Jackson, 53, of Portland, was instantly killed at 11:15 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a car driven by Judson Kittle, a farmer of Burns township. The accident occurred near Byron, when, according to officers who investigated the affair, Jackson stopped his car in the middle of the road to change a tire. His wife and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Russell, who were in the car, told officers his bright lights were on. Kittle, whose car came from the opposite direction, said he did not see Jackson. The latter was thrown 35 feet and instantly killed. Kittle’s car was ditched, but he was unhurt. Officers who investigated exonerated Kittle of all blame. No funeral arrangements had been made Monday, pending the arrival from the state of Washington of a brother, Charles Jackson. The dead man is survived besides his widow by his aged father, Henry Jackson, who also lives in Portland. He is now 85? years of age. The Jacksons had no children.
