July 13, 2016 JOHN J. JACKSON 1938-2016 John J. Jackson, of Lake Odessa, passed away on July 10, 2016 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth campus after a battle with cancer. He was born on Jan. 22, 1938 to Homer and Thelma Jackson at home in Clarksville, Michigan. John was a graduate of Lake Odessa High School Class of 1956. He was a farmer all his life in the Lake Odessa area. On March 1, 1963 he married Carolyn Karcher. John was a avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. His favorite pastime was playing cards. for the past 10 years he enjoyed wintering in Florida. John and Carolyn were long time members of Central United Methodist of Lake Odessa. John is survived by his loving spouse of 53 years, Carolyn; daughter, Carla (Rick) Borns; son, Ross (Elisa) Jackson; four grandchildren,Luke Jackson, Caleb Borns, Jake Jackson, Brody Jackson; five brothers, Elden (Nettie Koops) Jackson, Joe Jackson, Lee (Carol) Jackson, Paul (Judy) Jackson, Bruce Jackson; three sisters, Erma (Leroy) Thomas, Claudia (Bill) Barker, Kathie (Charles) Scofield; brother-in-law, Pat (Margaret) Maurer; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Thelma; sister, May Jewell Maurer; and sisters-in-law Betty Jackson and Marilee Jackson. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016, 5 to 8 p.m. at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, Michigan. Funeral sevices will be held on Thursday., July 14, 2016, 11 a.m. at the Koops Funemal Chapel, Lake Odessa, MI, with Pastor Karen Sorden, officiating. Burial will take place in the Lakeside Cemetery, Lake Odessa, MI. Memorials are suggested to the University of Michigan for research or the Central United Methodist Church of Lake Odessa, MI.
