Stanley Dudek of Grand Rapids, engineer, said the train was on an upgrade and traveling about 30 miles an hour at the time of the accident. The impact of the crash threw her body 63 ft. The accident was investigated by Deputy Clarence Aldrich of Lake Odessa and undersheriff Peter VanVleck of Ionia with Dale Kauffman as coroner. Mrs. Jackson apparently failed to hear or see the train until close by and then started running across the track according to eye witnesses, Albert Reahm, who was on his way home from work and was near the Kroger Store and Cecil Torrey and Gerald Heaven of Clarksville C & O employees who were near the section house. A coroners jury impaneled includes Orville Decker, Wayne Chase, Floyd Piercefield, Duane Gray, Robert Cobb and Harold Nielsen. Ionia was called for clearance orders for the train to proceed. Mrs. Jackson was born in Orleans township but had lived most of her life in this vicinity with exception of few years spent north. She had resided west of town on a farm before coming to town after the death of her husband who passed away March 26?, 1944. Surviving are three sons, Clyde, of Lake Odessa; Lloyd of Los Angeles, Calif.; Judd of Lansing; ten grandchildren and one great grand child. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Pickens chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery. Rev. F.E. Mohr officiated.
