E. JACKSON OLD RESIDENT - TAKEN SICK LAST SATURDAY, GREW GRADUALLY WORSE; WAS AROUND LAST WEEK. Albert E. Jackson, one of the best known and highly respected residents of Ionia township, died at his home on the farm north of Prairie Creek this morning at 12:15, at the age of 76 years. He was born in Madison county, N.Y., in June, 1844, and came to Michigan, coming direct to the farm where he died, in 1861. Mr. Jackson leaves to mourn his loss four sons, Ray, Chester, Harvey and Lee, who are all citizens of Ionia---excepting Harvey who lives near Prairie Creek. Their mother died in 1898. He was taken suddenly ill last Saturday with bowel trouble and grew worse until the end. The four sons were all with him when he died. An aunt, Helen Jackson, who is nearly the age of Mr. Jackson, has resided on the same farm ever since the children were born, took care of Mr. Jackson until the last most faithfully. Deceased was always prominent in politics in the county with the democratic party. He had been a voter for 57 years and had voted in the same precinct all his life, a most unusual record. He was a member of the board of supervisors about eight years, had served on the school board at Prairie Creek, and was one of the workers in obtaining the new school there. The funeral will be in charge of the Masonic lodge, of which he was a member, to be held from the residence of his son, Harvey, at Prairie Creek, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. E. E. Branch will officiate, interment in Highland Park cemetery. The body will lie at the Bradley mortuary until Saturday afternoon, and will then be taken to the home at Prairie Creek."
