Mrs. Helen Jackson, one of the best known residents of Ionia, passed away at the home o her nephew, Ray Jackson, 544 East Main street, at 3 o'clock Monday morning after an illness lasting many months. Mrs. Jackson had been ill for a number of weeks and early this fall she tried to walk from her bed to a chair. After she left the bed she fell and broke her right leg. Since that time she has failed rapidly. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson came from the state of New York 56 years ago this coming February. Though having no children of her own she mothered four nephews and two nieces, the children of Mr. and Ms. Albert Jackson, their mother dying when they were very young. Mr. Jackson died 19 years ago this month. For a number of years, Mrs. Jackson, who was better known as "Aunt Helen kept house for her brother-in-law, Albert Jackson. He died four years ago last September. Mrs. Jackson, who celebrated her eighty-first birthday December 6, was always a faithful member of the First Methodist Episcopal church. She is survived by four nephews, Ray Jackson, with whom she made her home, Chester Jackson, Harvey Jackson and Lee Jackson, all of Ionia, and two nieces, Mrs. Don Wilson , of Utica, N.Y., and Mrs. Clayton Ehle, of Syracuse, N.Y. (Sentinel-Standard - Tuesday, December 16, 1924) The funeral service for Mrs. Helen Jackson will be held from the residence of her nephew, Harvey Jackson, at Prairie Creek, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o''clock and at the Methodist Episcopal church at 2:30. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Charles J. Kruse. Chandler Haight will furnish the music. Burial will take place in the family lot at Highland Park cemetery beside the body of her husband who died 19 years ago this month.
