Last Friday night, November 29, Mary Jacoby, widow of the late Valentine Jacoby passed to her rest at the home of her son, Joe P. Jacoby, on the farm where she has resided for the past sixty years in the township of Otisco. Mary Jacoby was born in Baden, German, February 19, 1832, and came with her husband to Michigan sixty years ago, locating on the farm a few miles south of this city where she has always resided. She has been hale and hearty for many years and when the hour of death arrived had reached the remarkable age of ninety years, nine months and ten days. A favorite with all who knew her, Grandma Jacoby will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends as well as by those nearer and dearer to her. The funeral services were held at the Catholic church in Miriam, Tuesday morning, Rev. Fr. Zindler officiating, and the remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband who preceded her to the great beyond about fourteen years ago. Besides her son she leaves three daughters Mrs. A.R. Crooks, Mrs. P. Schafer and Miss Mary Jacoby all of Detroit.
