Margaret Nash James, 78, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Belding, died Sunday afternoon at Clark home in Grand Rapids where she had been a resident the past two years. She was born June 25, 1888, in Oakfield township, Kent county, the daughter of Fred Barstow Nash and Minnie Luella Martin. She was married August 14, 1955, to Rev. Henry James, who died February 7, 1964. Mrs. James was a retired Methodist minister. She attended Albion college where she received her M.A. degree. She attended Drew theological seminary and was ordained as a minister of the Methodist church as a deacon in 1924 and as an elder in 1926. Some of her charges included White Cloud, Farwell, Winn, Boyne Falls, Gladwin and Morrestown. Her name is listed in the book of Who’s Who of American Women, volume I. Surviving are one niece, Mrs. Hazel Tingley of Belding, and five nieces and one nephew from away. The body was taken to Metcalf mortuary in Grand Rapids and will be taken to M.J. Clark chapel for services Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in River Ridge cemetery in Belding.
