Benner James occurred at his home in the Demorest flat Tuesday, April 14, 1908. He and his wife came here soon after the daughter, Miss Della James secured a position in our schools. The deceased was born in Goodville, Pa., Dec. 19, 1844, and came to Indiana with his parents in 1860 and settled in Noble county. Later he came to Muskegon and in 1873 was married to Miss Mary A. Haines. In 1893 they moved to a farm near Lowell which is still the family home and where the funeral will be held Friday. The Masonic fraternity of Lowell, of which he was a member, will have charge and Rev. F.H. Bready of the M.E. church will officiate. He leaves his wife and three children, Miss Della M. James of the city schools, Carl, now on the farm, and Clyde C., who is in the navy. He was a man of excellent character and although in poor health for some time was a patient sufferer and ready to answer the final summons.
