June 11, 1915 Paul Jandernoa passes to reward. Had been in poor health for several months previous to his demise. Following a long illness from stomach trouble Paul Jandernoa passed away at his home in Pewamo last Friday morning, June 11, aged 56 years, ten months and 18 days. The funeral services were held from St. Joseph’s church Monday morning, Rev. Fr. Kuchnel officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery, south of town. Mr. Jandernoa had been troubled with his stomach for a number of years and finally the disease reached a chronic state, and though he consulted and treated with physicians from far and near, they were unable to do anything for him and he slowly but patiently awaited the inevitable. The deceased was a native of Germany, being born in that country July 23, 1858, coming to the States when 21 years of age. He was married on April 28th, 1885 to Miss Elizabeth Rademacher, of Westphalia. To their union were given seven children, Mrs. Fred Young, of Ionia; Tony V., of Detroit; Regina, Eva, Theodore and Gertrude, of Pewamo, who with the wife, his aged mother and a sister in Germany; a brother, Joseph of Grand Rapids, and a sister, Mrs. Matt Rocha, of Portland, are left to mourn his departure to a better world. A daughter, Rosa, died in infancy. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Jandernoa moved onto a farm in Lebanon Township, where they continued to reside until this spring when failing health compelled Mr. Jandernoa to give up the work of the farm and they came to Pewamo to reside. The deceased was always a hard working man and by economy and industry accumulated a competency for his declining days. Besides the immediate relatives who attended the funeral from out of town, were Theodore Roach, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crist and Mrs. and Mrs. Lawrence Christ of Portland; Mrs. Theo Weiland of Grand Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smith of Lansing, Mr. Fred Young of Ionia, and a large number of friends and neighbors from the old home township of Lebanon.
