Bertha F. Janes, 71, wife of Louie Janes of Orange township, died Sunday at 
4:15 a.m. at the Ionia County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient 
since August 20.

She was a daughter of Charles and Anna Penfield and was born March 7, 1886 in 
Lyons township.  She was married July 9, 1912 to Louie Janes and they lived all 
of their married life in the present home in Orange township.

Mrs. Janes was a member of the LeValley Methodist church WSCS and the Women’s 
Bible class.

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Elmer Leifhelt of Orange 
township a sister, Mrs. Lyman Almy of Collins; a stepson, Floyd Janes and six 
grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the 
LeValley Methodist church with the Rev. J. Lawrence Ward officiating.  Burial 
will be in Tuttle cemetery.
