The Ionia Standard, Friday, December 1, 1893

Nicholas Janes, of Orange, died Monday, of consumption, at the age of 69.  
Funeral at 10 a.m., Wednesday at the LeValley church, at which a large 
concourse of friends were in attendance.  Mr. Janes had long been a sufferer 
from the malady which took him away; but he bore his illness with a 
characteristic resignation.  He was a good citizen and a true neighbor.
