Janes Passes Away Harry E. Janes, 73 World War I veteran and retired school bus driver, passed away Monday morning at the Veterans Hospital at Ann Arbor, after a several months illness. He had been at Ann Arbor for about a month. A native of Grand Ledge, Mr. Janes had been a local resident since 1919 after World War 1, serving overseas in France. He was employed by local garages for several years and in 1926 built his own garage which he operated for many years and in 1939 started his work with the Lake Odessa Public School system, as mechanic and later also as bus driver. He retired in 1961. Harry was a member of the Lesky-Dulek Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans and had served in various offices of the chapter. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs.William (Charlotte) Ellison and Neil (Gene) Kilbarger of Whittler Calif.; a son Milton E. (Bud) Janes of Sayerville, New Jersey; five grand children and two brothers David and John of Grand Rapids. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel under the auspices of the Lesky-Dulek Chapter. Officiating were Rev. Luther Brokaw and Chaplain Otto Randall of the DAV Chapter. Burial is Lakeside Cemetery.
