Janislawski, 84, of Ionia died Saturday, June 4, 1994 at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Portland on June 5, 1909 the son of Antonio and Hedwig Janislawski. He came to the United States with his parents in 1924, settling in Detroit. He graduated from the eighth grade of Southwestern High School in Detroit, he attended Ford Trade School, becoming a mill wright. Mr. Janislawski worked at Scott Paper Co. all his life until retiring in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II in the European Theatre. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge attaining fellowship status. He was married to Virginia Hardin in Detroit in 1961, the couple came to Ionia in 1983. He is survived by two step-daughters, Teddy (Charles) Wassom and Rebecca (Joseph) Brown both of Ionia: four grandchildren, Tracie Ann Wassom, Darrin Reed Wassom, Kevin Charles (Lisa Ann) Wassom and Andrew Michael (Cassandra Ann) Brown; one great-grandchild, Ashley (data missing), one sister, Hattie Zak of Detroit. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 2, 1991 in Ionia. There will be no visitation or funeral services. Graveside committal services will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek at a later date. The Rev. Lawrence Hodge of First Methodist Church, Ionia, will officiate. Memorials can be made out to the V.F.W. with envelopes available at the Cook Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
