She would have been 81 years old July 3. The funeral was held at Calvary United Brethren church, Monday afternoon conducted by the Rev. J. I. Batdorff, pastor of the Woodbury church, assisted by the Rev. F. W. Moxon, pastor at Calvary church. Mrs. Mary Curtis and Mrs. Sarah Meyers, accompanied by Mrs. Batdorff, furnished the music. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Fred King, who cared for her during her illness; three brothers, Fred Darby in Grand Rapids, Jay Darby, Battle Creek, and John Darby at Nashville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The bearers were Ira and Earl Curtis, Oscar and Herbert Shellenbarger, Walker Cotton and Loren Basset. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery. ---- Obituary of Mrs. Jarstfer Nancy B. Darby, daughter of Wallace and Elizabeth Darby, was born July 3, 1861, in Campbell township, Ionia county, Michigan, and departed this life June 12, 1942, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and nine days. She was united in marriage to George E. Jarstfer February 24, 1880. To this union were born three children, Charles H., Elizabeth A., and Clarence E. They resided in Campbell township until 1886 when they moved to Odessa township where they labored to obtain the farm home on which they lived for 36 years. In 1922 they retired from their more active labor and moved onto a smaller farm near the old homestead. She was preceded in death by her husband, in January, 1929, by her older son Charles in September of the same year, and by the younger son Clarence in 1932. She was a devoted companion, a kind and loving mother and a friend to everyone. Her life has been one of willing, cheerful self-sacrifice for the happiness of others. During her later years, she gave her life into God’s keeping and has been completely happy in her Christian activities, placing her membership with the United Brethren church at Tamarac and remaining faithful until death. She leaves to mourn their loss, one daughter Elizabeth A. King, who cared for her in her illness, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, also three brothers, Jay of Battle Creek, Mich., Fred of Grand Rapids, Mich., and John of Nashville, Mich., besides her other relatives and many friends and neighbors who will so greatly miss her kind and loving acts of Christian helpfulness. The funeral was held at the Calvary United brethren church in Lake Odessa, Mich., and interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. The services were in charge of her pastor the Rev. J. I. Batdorff, assisted by the Rev. E. M. Wheeler of Hastings, a former pastor, and the Rev. F. W. Moxon. The singing was rendered by Mrs. Mary Curtis and Mrs. Sarah Myers, accompanied by Mrs. J. I. Batdorff. The beautiful floral tributes and the large concourse of people bespoke the esteem in which she was held. Those attending from a distance were: Pvt. Leonard K. Fancher, Mr. and Mrs. E. Rice, Mr. and Mrs. R. Striker, Mrs. Esther Bump and son, Mrs. Eleanor Geiger and Mrs. Heber Foster of Hastings.
