Battle Creek Enquirer-18 August 1965
Mrs. Velma Jarstfer, 76, of 11175 3 1/2 Mile road,  died Tuesday evening at a 
local hospital where she had been a patient four weeks.  She was born July 31, 
1889, in Woodland Township, daughter of Clyde and Jennie (Bare) Purdun.  Her 
husband, Charles, died Dec. 21, 1929.  Mrs. Jarstfer is survived by two daughters, 
Mrs. Nellie Cook of Marquette and Mrs. Phyllis VanderVelde of Grand Rapids; two 
sons,  Viverne of Middleville and Leonard, with whom she made her home; 14 
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Hall of Grand  
Rapids.
