Leaves Wife, Mother and Children. Not long after the death of his father George Jarstfer, Charles Jarstfer, living southwest of town, passed away after a struggle with a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Jarstfer was well known in and around Lake Odessa he having lived sometime in this village, where he ran the garage on the 2nd street, doing repairing along several lines. He moved on his father's farm when his father's health gave out, where he has since lived and where he died. OBITUARY Charles Henry Jarstfer, son of George and Nancy Jarstfer was born March 10, 1882 in Campbell township , Ionia County, Mich. and departed this life September 24, 1929, age 47 years, 6 months and 11 days. At the age of four years he moved with his parents to the home in Odessa township. He was united in marriage to Velma B.Purdun, December 5, 1906. To this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters, Viverne C., Nellie B., Leonard K, and Phyllis Mae, all at home except Nellie who is in training at Butterworth hospital, Grand Rapids. They resided on a farm in Odessa township for three years, moving to a farm in Campbell township where they lived for six years. In 1917 they moved to Lake Odessa and in the spring of 1922 they moved to the old homestead where he lived until death called him. He is survived by the wife, four children, mother, one sister Elizabeth A.King of near Hastings and one brother Clarence E.,Lake Odessa, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was a loving devoted husband and father and will e greatly missed in the community where he lived. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the home and the Tamarac Church at 2 o'clock, Rev. M.H.Dawson officiating. The music was by Mrs.Mary Curts, Mrs Grace Olmstead and Mr and Mrs.George Sears accompanied by Mrs.Theda Wilt. Burial was at Lake Side Cemetery. Those in attendance from a distance were,Frank Jarstfer and wife, and Mrs. Roy Jarstfer and son Stacy from Crystal; Mr and Mrs Charles Darby Sr.and family of Grand Haven; Mr and Mrs.John Darby of Battle Creek; Mr and Mrs William Cortwright and Sarah Darby of Nashville; Mrs Carrie Cassel and daughter Mrs Myrtle Tannis, Mrs and Mrs D.U LePard and daughter Lucille VanBlois and Mrs Oma Reed of Grand Rapids; Mr and Mrs Frank Day of Portland; Mr and Mrs.Jay Carpenter of Carlton Center, and Mrs George Nagler and Mrs.Arthur Richards of Freeport. CARD OF THANKS We greatly appreciate the many acts of kindness and sympathy shown us during the sickness and death of our loving son, husband and father. We thank Reverend Dawson for his comforting words and the singers, also the lodges, the Home Improvement club, the Tamarac Aid and W.M.A.and the many relatives and friends for the beautiful flowers, also the pallbearers for their assistance and Dr.Hoffs for his untiring efforts.
