Jaycox.—In Orleans, on Sunday, Oct. 6th, at the age of 51 years, Mrs. Sarah Ann Jaycox. The deceased was born on the 10th day of January, 1826, in the village of Litchfield, Conn., where her family lineage can be traced back through several generations previous to her birth. Her father, Hial Rowley, shortly afterwards, in 1827, removed to Monroe Co., N.Y., within a few miles of the then embryo village of Rochester. Here the girlhood of the deceased was spent, and until her marriage with John D. Jaycox, an old and respected citizen of Orleans township, remained with the large family of her father, and shared the privations and hardships of early pioneer life. In 1857 Mr. Jaycox emigrated to Michigan, and purchased a farm in Orleans where he has since resided. Their union has been blessed with three children, two of whom remain to mourn the untimely loss of a kind and faithful mother. Mrs. Jaycox was an earnest Christian, and her piety was sweetened by the grace of a warm heart and the sympathies of a kindly nature. She early became a member of the Disciples’ church, under the eloquent preaching of Rev. Isaac Errett, now of Cincinnati, for whom she has always retained the profoundest respect. Her illness has been of painful duration, and although her sufferings have been of the acutest nature she has borne all patiently and uncomplainingly. In her last hours she expressed unfaltering trust in the promises of a compassionate Savior, and at the final moment, surrounded by her family and friends, her yearning spirit passed into the dreamland of eternity, sweetly and quietly, a fitting consummation to a life of unexampled purity and devotion.
