Mary Ellen (Northrup) Jeffery, the very loving and much loved mother of Kay 
(Dick) Gavitt, John (Kathie) Jeffery, Carol Skog and Joni Hernandez passed away 
in the early hours of Monday, June 13, 2005 at Eaton Community Hospice in 
Charlotte.

Mary Ellen is also survived by her brother, Lawrence Northrup, sisters-in-law 
Marie Northrup and Rosemary Northrup.  Grandchildren Rick (Sheryl) Gavitt, Mary 
Ellen Gavitt, Julie (Todd) Miller, Jennifer (Craig) Runck, John Jr. and Jason 
Jeffery, Brian (Alicia) Pretzel, Justo A. Hernandez, Ernie Hernandez and Sara 
Pilar Hernandez.  Great-grandchildren Robert Johnson, Melissa and Jessica 
Krause, Ryan and Rick Gavitt, John and David Miller, Noah Runck, Franklin 
Cavigliano, Ashlyn and Aubrey Pretzel, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Dalta Northrup, husband 
Julius Lucian Jeffery, sisters Margaret Kukielka and Beatrice Davis, brothers 
John, Richard and James Northrup, sisters-in-law Ilene and Betty Northrup, 
brothers-in-law Fred Coryell and Paul Kukielka.

She was employed at Fisher Body from 1937 to 1977 working in both the sewing 
and paint departments.  She was a proud member of UAW Local 602, and both the 
Ionia Elks and Moose Lodges.

She was born in Ionia and lived there until 1999 when she moved to Grand Ledge, 
where she resided until her death.

The family is being served by Peters and Murray funeral Home, 301 E. Jefferson, 
Grand Ledge.  Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 
15, 2005 at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to Eaton Community 
Hospice or Heartland Hospice.
