Jeffery aged 85 of Ionia, MI passed away June 16, 2007. She was born July 7, 1921 in Freeport, MI, the daughter of Luther and Nina (Harper) Sterzick. She married Thomas Jeffery February 12, 1941. Leone attended the Freeport schools where she later graduated. She attended United Brethern Church and later South Boston Church. Leone was known as the “cook extraordinaire” and always asked to be the head chef for the camping and hunting camps. Leone wrote poetry, Articles in “ Just For You Corner” in the Clarksville Recorder and the Freeport News, and also for Heartlands News Letters. She is survived by her children; Rachel and Richard Comer of Ionia and Daniel and Linda Jeffery of Palmer, Alaska; brother Don and Barb Sterzick of Alto; 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Leone was preceded in death by sons, John, Michael and David, and daughter Ruth, one grandson David Jr. and 1 great grandson Anthony. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Pastor Dan Jeffery officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Heartland Health Care Activities Program.
