Burial took place at Reed City Monday. Mrs. Jenkins’ maiden name was Miss Mary Kinney. She was born and reared on a farm west of the village and from the time of her marriage to her removal to Hersey, Osceola county, she lived with her husband on the farm now occupied by Howard St. John, southeast of Portland. Mr. Jenkins died aboard a train bound for California, 15 years ago. he was enroute to his daughter’s home there when his death took place and the only means of identifying him proved to be a Masonic lodge receipt, found in one of his pockets. The death of Mrs. Jenkins recalls the sad incident to many Portland citizens.
