The family moved to Commerce, Oakland county, Michigan, when he was one year of age, and came to Ionia county when he was a young man. Mr. Jenkins was married to Miss Sarah Rood September 4, 1860. To this union five children were born—George of Chesaning; John of Bruce’s Crossing; Jennie of Saranac; Sereno of Detroit. The mother died May 5, 1876. Mary died September 17, 1874. Mr. Jenkins was again married to Miss Laura Lane. To this union was born one child, Arthur, who remains at home. Mr. Jenkins passed away June 15, 1917, aged eighty years, nine months and five days. Funeral service was held at the home in Easton township Sunday afternoon, Rev. R. V. Birdsall officiating. The burial was made in Easton cemetery. The deceased was a good neighbor, a kind father and husband, and will be greatly missed.
