Jim was born on Sept. 26, 1941 in Belding, the son of Edward L. and Edith M. Johns Jenkins. He graduated from Belding High School and started out as a milkman working with his dad, then drove semis for 39 years. He retired in 1998 from Parker Motor Freight in Grand Rapids after 21 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters Union No. 406 for 31 years. Jim enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Allison, family and friends, playing Keno, watching football and Tiger baseball, he loved helping friends and neighbors, traveling around the country, gardening and working with his many Wheel Horse tractors. Jim married Marcia L. Taylor on Dec. 31, 1975 in Belding and she survives along with his children, Betty Jenkins, James E. Jenkins, both of Belding, and Brenda (Ashley) Townsend of Orleans; one granddaughter, Allison M. Townsend - the light of his life; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Sally Jenkins of Battle Creek; sister, Jackie Bradford of Ballwin, Mo.; sister-in-law, Phyllis Jenkins of Belding; mother-in-law, Irene Taylor of Reed City; three sisters-in-law and their spouses, Cheryl (Dave) Babcock of White Cloud, Karen (Dave) MacKellar of Reed City and Maureen (Art) Jeannot of Honor; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends and neighbors. Jim was preceded by his parents; his brother, Edward D. Jenkins; brother-in- law, David Bradford; and father-in-law, Carl Taylor. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be noon Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Gerald Johnston officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends two hours before the service. Inurnment will be in Otisco Township Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Michigan.
