Portland Library Scrapbook -  June 1880

Died-At the home of her son,Clinton County, Mich., Catherine Jenkins in the 82nd 
year of her age.

Mrs.Jenkins was born in Monroe county, N.Y., Feb. 27, 1798. She was married to 
John Jenkins in 1837 moved Washtenaw county,Mich., in 1837 and again to Ionia 
County in 1842. By the death of her husband she came to the Sorrows of Widowhood 
in Feb. 1855 but found a happy home with two sons, Sylvester and Joseph Jenkins 
both well known to this community, She had been a member of the Methodist 
Episcopal Church for nearly 50 years, walking over in a  quiet, peaceable life 
devoted to the church and the interests of her family and friend, until at the 
advanced age of 82 years, God crowned her with eternal  life by an abundant 
entrance into his kingdom to be forever free from care and infirmity."Blessed 
are the dead who die in the Lord,"
