Frank L. Jenkins, 67, Portland village manager for many years, died suddenly at
his home Monday night as he prepared to retire for the night.  

He had been village manager at Portland since 1919, and was to have become
village consultant in municipal service matters.  His service to the village
started in 1904, when he became superintendent of the light department.

He was a member of the Portland Lions club, Portland F. & A.M., Knights Templar,
the Shrine at Ionia, and the Grand Rapids consistory, and he was a 32nd degree
Mason.  He was an active member of the Methodist church, the village fire
department, and the Village Managers’ association.

Surviving are his wife, Nellie; a brother, Sylvester, of Portland, and a sister,
Mrs. Grace Bates, also of Portland.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Portland Methodist
church, with the Rev. George Stanford officiating.
