The Ionia County Shopper’s Guide, Saturday, November 18, 1995

Elbert A. Jenks aged 83 of Saranac, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 1995 
at Ionia Memorial Hospital.  He was born March 2, 1912 in Flint the son of Ray 
and Effie (Bixby) Jenks.  He went on to marry Elmira Blow October 9, 1937 in 
South Bend, Indiana.  

He worked for 24 years at Universal Metal Products as a Lead man and also 
farmed Boston Township and surrounding areas for many years.  

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons Lawrence Jenks of Jenison and 
Lloyd Jenks of Saranac; one daughter, Ardist Ferris of Lyons; one brother 
Claude Jenks of Webberville; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; special 
friends Wayne and Linda Chambers.  He was preceded in death by his daughter 
Ann Jenks, son Leon Jenks, grandson Nickolas Jenks and brother Howard.

Services will be held November 19, 1995 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home, 
Saranac.  Interment Balcom Cemetery.  Contributions to 4-H handicap Horseback 
Riders of Ionia County or the Saranac Fire Department would be appreciated.
