Jenks, aged 86 years, 2 months and 15 days. The burial services were held at the home of his son, Elmer Jenks, where this aged father has lived for some time, Rev. J. E. Platte officiating. As long as health permitted he was a constant attendant at Ashley church. In the early pioneer history of this vicinity, the deceased settled on the town line of Grattan and Otisco and all of theses years of living amongst us, he has lived to truly serve God, and do good to those around him, ever zealous to do the Master’s work. A large circle of relatives and friends gathered with his mourning family, Oct. 1st, Rev. Platte selecting, First Epistle of John, 3d chapter and 2nd verse, as a text for the Masterly discourse, which must be a benefit to all present. Burial at Ashley cemetery by the side of his wife and those of his family gone before. Among the many Otisco friends attending the funeral services held for “Grandpa” E. S. Jenks, was Frank R. Chase, of Smyrna, many old friends shaking hands with him in memory of other days.
