He was born in Fenwick, Fair Plains township, January 2, 1879 and was the son of Henry and Mary Comstock Jenks. He lived his entire life in the Fenwick area. Mr. Jenks was former supervisor of Fair Plains township 14 years, member of Sheridan school board, a painter by trade, member of IOOF lodge of Fenwick and a sexton at Clear Lake cemetery 50 years. On May 12, 1896 he married Ellen Loveless and she died December 15, 1918. He then married Blanche Kerman of Stanton, July 4, 1921 and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Fred Jenks of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Mable Hoy of Ionia, Mrs. Grace Baird of Stanwood; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Stebbins funeral home in Sheridan, Monday at 2 p.m. Rev. M.D. Burch will officiate with burial in Clear Lake cemetery. Bearers will be Earle Jenks, Jr., William Jenks Sr., William Jenks, Jr., Fred Wilmore, Don Hoy and Joe Wilmore. The family will be at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7 until 9 O’clock.
