Jenks, 84, of Belding, passed away Thursday evening, July 18, 2002 at Metron of Belding Hospital. He was born on October 20, 1917 on the family farm in Grattan Township, the son of Floyd E. and Cora Douglas Jenks. Cora died during the birth of her second son. Floyd later married Agnes Douglas, who became a loving mother to Doug and his brother, Gordon. Doug graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1935. He owned the State Farm Insurance Agency in Belding for over 50 years. Doug received many awards for his work as an outstanding insurance representative. He had served as President of the Belding Hospital Board and was active in the Covered Village Mall Owners Association. He was married to Dorothy Kropf in 1941. She preceded him in death in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother. Doug is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Gordon E. and Emmaline Jenks of Cascade; his nieces and nephews, Patricia and Bernard Krampe of Ada, Paul E. and Lois Jenks of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and seven great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor David A. Oliver of Ashley Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Otisco Township Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service at the Ashley Baptist Church on 10 Mile Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to Ashley Baptist Church.
