John A. Jenks, aged 83, of Lake Odessa, formerly of Ionia, went to be with his 
Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 29, 2005.  John was born July 12, 1922 in 
Ionia the son of Milton and Ethel (Smith) Jenks.  He married Beverly Benner 
February 14, 1942 in Ionia.  John served in WWII and was a member of the 
American Legion of Ionia.  He retired from Rather School and he worked 35 
years for Mitchell Bentley.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Beverly of Lake 
Odessa; daughters Janet and Phillip Welch of Lake Odessa, Shirley and Tom 
Lewis of Hastings; brother Bill and Lena Jenks of Ionia; eight grandchildren, 
twenty-one great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday 2 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with 
Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  Interment Balcom Cemetery.  The family will 
receive friends and relatives Thursday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 
p.m. at the funeral home.  You may make a memorial contribution in John’s name 
to Ionia Hospice.
