The funeral services were held from the residence Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, to be conducted by Rev. L.E. Lennox of the M.E. church. Mrs. Jennings was 79 years of age and had always enjoyed good health, and her sudden death will cause profound regret. Her maiden name was Maria Armstrong, and she was one of ten children of a respected and well-known family. She was born in Livonia, Livingston county, N.Y., Dec. 20, 1912, and would have been 80 years of age had she lived until next December. She was married to James L. Jennings April 14, 1846, at Livonia, and came with him to Ronald, Ionia county where they resided until 1863, when they came to the city, and have been respected residents ever since. She was the mother of three children who died young. She leaves besides her husband to mourn her death, two step children, James C. Jennings of this city and Louis L. Jennings of Chicago. To them she was a good and kind mother, and they loved and honored her as though she had been their own. She also leaves behind her one sister, Mrs. John Jennings of Ronald, and three brothers living in Livingston county, N.Y. She experienced religion in Livingston county when a young woman and joined the Methodist Episcopal church at Long Plains, in Ronald, in 1855, and has been a member ever since, having connected with the Ionia society about 30 years. Mrs. Jennings was of a retiring disposition, very firm in her convictions of right and wrong. She was a good woman, loved and honored by all who knew her.
