Ionia County News, 11 Jan 1934

Cora B. Jepson, second daughter of James B. and Mariam E. Jepson, was born on
May 31, 1854, in Easton township, Ionia County Michigan.  She received her
education in the district school and had spent her entire life in Ionia County.

In 1880 the family moved to Saranac.  On April 1, 1893 the father passed away
and from that time on Miss Jepson made her home with her mother whom she
tenderly cared for.  In 1904 she purchased her present home which they enjoyed
together and where all members of the family loved to gather for twenty-five
years, the mother passing on September 19, 1929 at the age of 99 years.  Since
that time she has spent a part of the time with her brother, but her passing
came suddenly January 2 while at her own home while spending a few days with her
nephew and family who resided with her.  She was 79 years, seven months and two
days old.

Miss Jepson spent her whole life serving and doing good in her family.  Of her
it could be said truly, “She hath done what she could”  Although not connected
with any organization she enjoyed social gatherings and loved nothing better
than to hear a good sermon.

She leaves to hold her in loving memory her three brothers: Noah K., Edson A.,
and Merton K. Jepson, two sisters, Mrs. Jane Brown and Mrs. Mae L. Cobb, all of
Saranac.  Besides these are thirteen nieces and nephews, seventeen grand nieces
and grand nephews, two great-grand nieces, several cousins, some life-long
friends and many others.  Hers was the true pioneer spirit that could bear
whatever life brought of good or ill with a smile.

Those from away who attended the funeral of Miss Cora B. Jepson Friday were Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Darrow, Judge and Mrs. D.K. Jepson and Jeannette Nichols of
Ionia; Robert Jepson, Mrs. Floyd Feasel of Mulliken; Kinney Jepson of Grand
Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gunn of Lowell.
