Belding Banner-News, 24 May 1973

Graveside services for Mrs. Hazel Katherine Jersey, 85, were held Friday
afternoon at River Ridge Cemetery.  Arrangements were by Charles M. Courser
Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jersey was born April 23, 1888 in Sheridan, the daughter of Dr. Andrew and
Florence Dutt.  Her father was a former Belding doctor.  She graduated from
Belding high school in 1912 and was married to Lucian Jersey, who preceded her
in death.  Mrs. Jersey had resided at 250 44th St., Grand Rapids for 31 years. 
She died May 16 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand Rapids.

Mrs. Jersey was a former professor at Mississippi State College for Women,
Detroit Junior College, head of the English department at Huntington College,
Huntington, Indiana.  She also taught at high schools in Fort Myers and
Jacksonville, Florida as well as at Eastern high school in Lansing.
