The funeral will occur tomorrow at one o’clock in the afternoon, at the home of his mother and will be conducted by the Masons. It is expected that all of the officers of the Masonic Grand lodge of Michigan will be in attendance. ---- Unidentified Publication Several weeks ago the Banner told its readers of a big family reunion of the Jersey family which occurred at the home of Mrs. Mary Jersey of this city at which nearly all of the living members of the family were present. Among the number present was Frank E. Jersey of Reed City who was among the happiest of the number to meet and greet his brothers and sisters in this happy family gathering. A few weeks ago Frank came to this city suffering with what had been diagnosed as a case of sugar diabetes and took up his abode for a few weeks with his mother, Mrs. Mary Jersey, and began taking treatment with Doctor Pinkham, visiting his office almost daily to have the doctor administer the treatment. His last visit was on Thursday morning and on Friday he did not feel able to make the trip. All day Friday he was up and down and on Saturday was setting up for a portion of the day. Saturday afternoon he grew worse and about 6:10 he passed suddenly away during a short unconscious spell. Mr. Jersey was 49 years of age and was a former resident of this city but for a number of years past had resided at Reed City. Becoming a Mason at an early age he always adhered to the tenets of his lodge and at the time of his death was assistant grand secretary for the Grand Lodge of Michigan. The funeral was held at the home of his mother on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock under the auspices of the Belding Lodge F. & A.M. assisted by Rev. J. Frank Jackson. The Masonic portion of the funeral was conducted by the officers of the Grand Lodge of Michigan who came here in a body to attend the funeral. The officers of the Grand Lodge who were present were – Grand Master, Arthur S. Hume of Owosso; Deputy Grand Master, G. Roscoe Smith of Adrian; Senior Grand Warden, James E. Dillon of East Tawas; Grand Secretary, Lou B. Winsor of Reed City; Senior Grand Deacon Francis D. Clark of Flint; grand Marshal, George L. Lusk of Bay City; and Grand Tyler, Jas. F. McGregor of Detroit. Deceased leaves several brothers, Edgar W. of this city, Peter J. of Cincinnatti, Ohio, Henry of Boyne City, and Neil Jersey of Saginaw; and one sister, Alice Mitchell of Lansing, also a mother to mourn his sudden summons, all of whom were here, excepting Edgar, to attend the last sad rites. The remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Jersey retired from active business several years ago on account of his health and spent last winter in Oklahoma with his brother, Henry. He was a successful business man, but of late years had been in search of health. There was a large attendance at the funeral, the casket was covered with many beautiful floral offerings and the Rev. J. Frank Jackson spoke comforting words to the friends and the Masonic order which turned out in a body to assist the grand officers in the sad rites. Miss Lena Leonard and Miss Florence Wagner sang appropriate hymns at the house. The service at the grave was conducted by Lou B. Winsor of Reed City, a close and intimate friend of the deceased.
