The Belding Banner-News, Thursday, September 8, 1960


Alfred N. Jewell, 76, a long time Belding resident died Tuesday at the 
Greenville Memorial hospital.  He lived with his wife, the former Carey Orser, 
at 921 Luther.  Born September 14, 1883, he worked locally as a foundry moulder 
at the old Belding Foundry and later at the John Bean company.  He was also a 
foreman in the veneer room at the defunct Belding Basket company.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Clare, Richard, and Robert all of 
Belding.  He also has three daughters, Mrs. Lila Wood of Grand Rapids, Mrs. 
Hazel Wilder of Lansing, and Mrs. Fayadele Belanger of Belding.  Also surviving 
are 29 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Ellis Chapel Thursday, 2 p.m. with Reverend H. 
S. Ellis officiating.  Burial is in the Old Belding Cemetery.
