Ace H. Jewell, 68, of 442 Hill died Wednesday at Ionia county Memorial 
hospital following a short illness.  Born October 29, 1905, in Vassar, he was 
the son of Wilbert and Maude Peters Jewell.  October 4, 1935 he was married in 
Ionia to Caroline Hoople and she survives.

He was a member of the Moose lodge, also belonged to the First Christian 
church and the Cannon ball class of the church.  A veteran of World War II he 
served in the air force.  He retired December 19, 1973 from Caswell’s of Ionia 
where he had been employed seven years.  Prior employment was at Hill-Fravel 
laundry in Ionia eight years.

Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Sally Chastain of Ortonville; two 
grandchildren; one great grandchild; mother, Mrs. Maude Jewell of Lansing; 
brother, Clarence Jewell of Sun City, Ariz., and sister, Mrs. Glenn Tooker of 
Holt.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Myers-Roetman funeral home.  
Rev. Roger Gifford of First Christian church will officiate and interment will 
be at Balcom cemetery.  Family will be at the funeral home Thursday and Friday 
from 7 to 9 p.m.
